Jessica Johnson, B.A.

Middle School Lead Teacher and Learning Center Director

Jessica first came to Pathway in 2013. She had just returned from Africa where she worked alongside a non-profit that partnered with local schools in the area. She served as their Training Director, where she taught missionaries how to create dynamic lessons, ran several conferences, and mentored leaders weekly within the organization. Prior to her missionary work, she taught 4th grade for 3 years at a private school in her hometown of Huntington Beach. Even before receiving her bachelors in Liberal Studies at Cal State Long Beach, she was passionate about empowering students to reach their God given potential. During her last year of teaching 4th grade, she encountered a student that had trouble focusing, lacked drive, and struggled with self-esteem. This student changed her life trajectory forever. As they worked together, she began to see more and more progress. At the end of the year, he had taken complete ownership of his learning, but more importantly, he had an entirely new self-worth. Upon Jessica’s return to the States, she was determined to find a school that taught children differently and recognized them as individuals, not just a number. Pathway was exactly that. She has now served as the Elementary and Junior High Lead Teacher for 4 1/2 years, as well as the coordinator of the Mentoring Program for the last 3. In 2015, she took on the role of Learning Center Director. This year she will continue to focus on helping make the Learning Center even stronger than it already is.
