Middle School (grades 7 – 8)

These years are critical, particularly for students who are joining us for the middle school program. A strong emphasis is placed on preparing students for high school with an intentional focus on social skills and character development. Organization and time management continue to be skills that are reinforced throughout each subject area. Middle school students participate in the 1:1 laptop program and continue to grow their technology skills. Students attend monthly Chapel and monthly one-to-one mentoring with a staff member. Our goal is for our students to be equipped with the skills and confidence they need to be successful learners in private or public high school, and have a variety of choices after high school, including college and beyond.

Language arts classes have an instructional assistant during instruction, allowing teachers to address learning needs in small groups or individually.
Math classes are smaller and students are grouped based on their instructional level. This ensures that foundational skills are acquired and those proficient in these skills can move on to higher levels of learning. These small groups allow for more individualized attention and targeted instruction and intervention.
History, Bible, social skills, and technology are taught by the classroom teacher, differentiating assignments as needed and allowing technology to be integrated throughout all content areas. Social skills classes use research-based curriculum and include many opportunities for role-playing.
