Pathway provides a comprehensive educational program within a nurturing, small class environment (10:1) for students grades 2-8. Our curriculum is driven by frequent assessment and progress monitoring to determine individual student levels. Our instruction is characterized by multi-sensory, hands-on lessons and interactive exploration. We incorporate real life application of learning and help students discover that they accomplish more together than they do individually.

Elementary

As students move through our elementary program, there is a growing emphasis on developing their executive functioning skills of organization and time management. Students begin to blossom into confident, independent learners, advocating for themselves and taking responsibility for their choices. Elementary students participate in Pathway’s 1:1 laptop program and learn to integrate technology in a variety of ways. A focus on character development and social skills remains a constant in our program. Students attend monthly Chapel and monthly one-to-one mentoring with a staff member.

Language arts classes have an instructional assistant during instruction, allowing teachers to address learning needs in small groups or individually.

Math classes are smaller and students are grouped based on their instructional level. This ensures that foundational skills are acquired and those proficient in these skills can move on to higher levels of learning. These small groups allow for more individualized attention and targeted instruction and intervention.

History, Bible, social skills, and technology are taught by the classroom teacher, differentiating assignments as needed and allowing technology to be integrated throughout all content areas. Social skills classes use research-based curriculum and include many opportunities for role-playing.

In addition to all of the academic programs of the elementary years, we know that these middle school years are critical. The middle school students enjoy an increase in exposure to STEM activities with 4 classes a week with our specialty science teacher. Therefore, a strong emphasis is placed on preparing students for high school with an intentional focus on social skills and character development. Organization and time management continue to be skills that are reinforced throughout each subject area. Our goal is for our students to be equipped with the skills and confidence they need to be successful learners in private or public high school, and have a variety of choices after high school.
